Southside won the boys’ team title with 74 points, edging Valley View which had 72.

POCAHONTAS — The Southside Southerners track team won the competitive Wellman Relays that was held last week at Pocahontas.
Southside won the boys’ team title with 74 points, edging Valley View which had 72.
Batesville was third with 61, Melbourne was 12th with 25 and Cave City was 14th with 19.
For Southside:
Cannon Chaffin won the 400 run with a time of 52.24 seconds, was fifth in the 200 dash and eighth in the 100 dash.
Savion Hall won the high jump by clearing 6 feet 2 inches, was third in the triple jump and was sixth in the long jump.
Isaac Wallis was second in the 300 hurdles and fifth in the 110 hurdles.
Seth Case was sixth in the long jump.
Landron Cartright was sixth in the shot put.
The 4x400 relay team won with a time of 3:42.15, the 4x100 relay team was second and the 4x400 relay team was fourth.
For Batesville:
Ethan Byler was third in the 3200 run and eighth in the 800 run.
Jeremiah Strickland was third in the 110 hurdles and fifth in the triple jump.
Grant McDonald and Gavin Cargill tied for third in the pole vault.
Ethan Insell was fourth in the 1600 run and sixth in the 800 run.
Alexander Tenace was fifth in the 3200 run.
Jay Storlie was seventh in the 400 run.
Tanner Queary was seventh in the 300 hurdles.
The 4x800 relay team won with a time of 9:37.25, the 4x400 relay team was third and the 4x200 relay team was eighth.
For Melbourne:
Nathan Woodall was second in the 110 hurdles, fifth in the 300 hurdles and eighth in the triple jump.
Shawn Wortham was third in the 166 run and fifth in the 800 run.
The 4x200 relay team was seventh.
For Cave City, Sawyer Seat was second in the high jump and sixth in the 300 hurdles while Brock Smith was second in the 3200 run.
On the girls side, Nettleton won with 100 points and Valley View was second with 90.5. Southside was 12th with 20 and Batesville was 14th with 12.
Alexa Blevins scored all the points for the Lady Southerners as she won the long jump with a leap of 16 feet 10 inches and won the triple jump with a combined leap of 33 feet 8 inches.
For Batesville, Clara Nikkel was fifth in the 3200 run and Camya Porter was seventh in the 400 run. Also, the 4x800 relay team finished third.
