I’m writing this the day after the election and I don’t know who the winner is, but, so many thoughts are flying through my mind. The words that stick are “Now what?”
I predicted before the election if President Trump won re-election, people will riot and loot. If Joe Biden won, people who support Donald Trump will be upset but there will be no looting or rioting. We will just go to work like any other day.
But people are already rioting. We do not have a President yet so what are they rioting about?
I do feel this gnawing in the pit of my stomach. I can’t help but think regardless of who wins the presidency, an impeachment trial is in our future. I have no doubt the left will try to impeach Donald Trump for something if he wins the election.
Our nation has already been through it once with him, and I don’t believe the Democrats will stop there (if they keep the House). I also feel if Joe Biden some how pulls off a win they will begin impeachment proceedings as well. They will question his cognitive abilities and if he is impeached, the fabulous Kamala Harris will be President of the United States. This outcome is what I believe the left has wanted from the beginning. They just had to find the right way to make it happen.
Seeing stores board their windows up makes me physically ill. It was even worse when I watched workers erect no-scale walls around the White House with the National Guard already on alert.
The White House.
This is THE PEOPLES HOUSE and we are trying to destroy it.
Destroying it because we don’t like who occupies it at the time? Why don’t we try to WORK with that person instead of automatically spewing hate? We live in the United States of America. We have fought so hard to get to where we are. Why has there been such a spilt? One side blames it on the other. Everyone seems to blame it on someone else. Why don’t we stop playing the blame game and accept responsibility? No one is perfect. The one perfect man that ever walked this Earth walks it no more.
Mr. Bruce Guthrie was DEFINITELY right when he quoted lyrics from Prince. How can you go wrong with Prince? We all need more Prince lyrics in our life. He was also correct when asking for unity among the people, and talking about other countries sitting back and waiting for us to kill each other off so they can swoop in. It won’t take much, because we are already on our way. Unity is defined as the state of being one; oneness. a whole or totality as combining all its parts into one. the state or fact of being united or combined into one, as of the parts of a whole; unification. Alone, I can not bring Unity to this nation. and neither can Bruce Guthrie. But if everyone would just try to listen more, talk less, say thank you, help when you can and try to understand someone different than you then we can make a difference. It may only be a difference in our area but that’s a start.
As most everyone knows, both of my sons are in the U.S. Army and my husband is in law enforcement. I work for a company that depends on improving and expanding infrastructure. I do a lot of praying. Decisions that are made by the president and Congress affects all aspects of my family. Decisions made locally also affect my family. I wake up and go to sleep listening to the news. But after the election is over, Greg and I have agreed to turn off the news for a while. We are going to drink coffee outside and enjoy the weather and watching the deer. Instead of news in the evening, we will find a good home improvement show to watch or maybe an old movie. As I am writing this to put in the local newspaper, I am saying I have to walk away from the media. Local information is still very important to me.
But national news?
I can do without it for a few weeks. Locally I did see that Jimmy Limbaugh walked away with 934 votes over Bill Lindsey’s 381 votes. That excites me, as I don’t know Mr. Limbaugh but I do hope he is not a “head nodder” and the type that will just agree with whatever Judge Griffin says. I do hope he feels that law enforcement is important and makes it a priority. Only time will tell.
This morning Dr. Alveda King made two statements while being interviewed on Fox News that warmed my heart. She said, “Ballots, not burning, ballots not bullets”. And most importantly, she said “Elections will come and go, but God is still God”.
I will be working on what I can contribute to our unity goal, and I hope you will too.
