Beloved by all who knew her, Mignon “Nonnie” Annette Perrin Smith gracefully joined her heavenly father on April 1st, 2021.
Born April 9th, 1934, Nonnie attended Sloan Hendrix High School where she met the love of her life, Bob Smith. It was also during this time where Nonnie contracted polio and suffered the news she would never walk again. Nonnie’s strength and determination helped her defy all odds and regain the ability to walk.
She went on to attend Arkansas State University and marry her high school sweetheart, Bob. Nonnie and Bob settled in Batesville, Arkansas to raise their children and later chose Springfield, Missouri where they enjoyed hosting their children, grandchildren and extended family get togethers. They were married 58 short years and endlessly inspired others with their example of true love and respect for one another.
Nonnie had a zest for life; she loved adventures and was always the life of the party. She equally enjoyed hosting grand parties and intimate gatherings. She loved to travel, paint, read, work, and to make people happy. Nonnie gave herself freely to others and never asked for anything in return. She collected people as well as experiences and created quite a following of admirers with her ability to make everyone smile through her undivided attention. Nonnie made an impact on everyone she came into contact with, and will be profoundly missed by all.
Nonnie deeply embodied her faith and gave her love unconditionally as she had learned from her devotion to the scriptures. Corinthians 13: 4-5: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Nonnie is preceded in death by her dear Bob, as well as her mother, Chloe Justus Perrin and father, Henly Perrin.
Nonnie is survived by her three children, Bruce Smith, Julie Wilsey (Stuart) and Bart Smith as well as her grandchildren, Sarah Costa (Vince), Colby Smith, Ella Wilsey and Evan Wilsey. Nonnie’s siblings, Carolyn Keith (Oscar Ortiz) and Tony Perrin (Donna) and sister-in-law Betty Day as well as her nephews, Steve Keith (Jenny), Mike Smith (Julie) and Sammy Keith, and niece, Carrie Keith (Marc Schriftman) and great nieces and nephews, Travis (Chelsea), Brandon (Shannon), Olivia Bond Keith, Tess Bond Keith, Sadie Schriftman and Sailor Schriftman all join her children and grandchildren in mourning their families’ grave loss.
A private service will be held in Arkansas at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
The Family expresses gratitude to the Brookdale Beckett Meadows Memory Care and Hospice staff for their loving care.
