Rebecca Joy Lovett, 40, was booked last week on charges of aggravated assault and criminal mischief in the first degree, both class D felonies, and battery in the third degree and leaving the scene of an accident, both class A misdemeanors.
According to the affidavit for arrest, Lovett’s dogs were barking and attacking a man working on a property at 20 Hix Lane. The man’s wife and sister-in-law began yelling at the dogs.
Lovett arrived and began yelling at the women for yelling at the dogs.
Lovett reached through a car window and pulled a pair of glasses off the face of one of the women. She then hit their windshield and the hood of their vehicle multiple times with a blunt object. Lovett then went back to her vehicle and left the scene, striking the rear of their vehicle with her vehicle.
The two women were still inside the vehicle when this happened. The incident was video recorded on cell phone.
Deputies with the Independence County Sheriff’s Office observed damage to the rear of the victim’s vehicle including paint transfer and broken piece of vehicle.
Deputies located Lovett a short time later at her parent’s residence, also on Hix Lane, sitting in her vehicle.
Bond is set at $30,000.
