Teresa Goforth, kindergarten teacher aide at West Elementary School, was named Monday as the November recipient of the Citizens Bank “Above & Beyond” Award for the Batesville School District.

Citizens Bank and the school district initiated the “Above & Beyond” program in 2012 to recognize staff members for exceptional service to students, parents, their school and the district. Anyone employed by the district may be nominated by their peers.

Each month’s recipient is selected from the nominations and announced at a school board meeting. The award includes a certificate from the board, a $25 gift card and a 20-ounce insulated tumbler from Citizens Bank.

The nominations for Goforth all referenced her helpfulness at the school. Some of their comments included:

“Teresa has been with the district a long time but here at West three years. Since Day 1, she has been willing to do anything asked.”

“She is always happy and smiling. She loves the students and it shows. She is kind to everyone.”

“Teresa is very deserving of this award. She steps in wherever help is needed and whenever someone needs something.”

“She is very busy with kindergarten, but she finds time to go out of her way to help others. She is very much appreciated.”

“Because she is awesome!”
