The Independence County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information regarding multiple pieces of new Stihl equipment stolen from Grassroots Equipment and Outdoors, 925 Batesville Blvd.
Someone broke into the store by cutting a hole through four layers of the sheet metal building sometime between July 27 and 28.
According to the report, someone stole over 30 chainsaws, a dozen leaf blowers, eight hedge trimmers, and several other pieces of equipment along with $10 in change from the cash drawer.
The value of the items were worth over $27,000.
Six of the items were recovered on July 28. They were found on Sugar Street behind Keller’s Bounce Houses in Batesville.
The recovered equipment came out to a total value of just under $2,600.
Deputy Zachary Spohr of the Independence County Sheriff’s Department arrived at Grassroots Equipment and Outdoors on July 28 after an employee saw the building had been broken into and contacted the owner.
According to the report, “Deputy Spohr then went to the show room floor where most of the shelves was empty. Deputy Spohr was informed that the shelves did have all Stihl chainsaws, pole-saws weed eaters.”
Investigators found a DeWalt circular saw kit with one pack of batteries and one charging black in the wood-line near the business.
The Criminal Investigation Division was called to assist with the investigation and evidence. All of the serial numbers of the stolen items have been entered into the Arkansas Crime Information Center as stolen.
