The Independence County Quorum Court will consider a resolution during their meeting Monday evening which, if approved, will allow the county judge to enter into a contract for bridge construction.

The resolution will allow County Judge Robert Griffin to execute a contract with Seagraves Construction of Pocahontas for the sum of $1,156,593.65 for the construction of Center Grove Bridge.

Funding for the project is being provided by a grant from the Economic Development Administration and local funds.

The JPs will also consider an ordinance that will add a new position in the county tax assessor’s budget.

According to the ordinance, the new position increases the County General Assessor Budget to $517,141.06. The overall budget and anticipated revenues for the County General Fund will be increased by $31,325.00.

The JPs will also consider an ordinance amending the county budget and appropriating pandemic security funds.

A discussion will also be held regarding the county flag and seal.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the Independence County Library located at 267 E. Main St. in Batesville. The public is invited to participate via Zoom. Only county officials and the press will be allowed to attend in person.
