Pardon Our Progress

When driving by First Community Bank headquarters at the corner of Harrison and St. Louis Streets in Batesville, drivers are noticing the obvious progress on the bank’s coming Operations Center. The target for opening the new center is the first quarter of 2021.

Construction for the First Community Bank Operations Center is on schedule and proceeding well toward an expected completion in the first quarter of 2021.

Construction has begun on the sky bridge that connects the operations center to the main bank this week. The bridge will span over 14th Street and will be more than 170 feet long.

“We like to refer to the sky bridge as a ‘Bridge to the Future,’” said Boris Dover, president and COO. “The operations center will house more than 125 employees who will provide support to all locations. This gives us the foundation to continue our growth into the future.”

The building will have storefront entrances to insurance, brokerage and mortgage, giving customers easy access to these services.

As work begins on the sky bridge, the entrance to 14th Street from Harrison Street will remain closed in order to protect vehicles and pedestrians in the construction zones. Structural steel for the sky bridge is now on-site and is being put into place. A detour will route customers north on 15th Street, west on Byers Street for entry to the drive-thru lanes from upper 14th Street only.

“Having a sky bridge in place to connect the operations center to our main bank I believe was very important,” said Dale Cole, chairman and CEO of First Community Bank. “Firstly, it helps our team members feel unified, and secondly, it provides them convenient access between the facilities while keeping them sheltered from inclement weather. The sky bridge is a “first” for First Community Bank, so we are excited to watch it go up!”
