Classes in acrylics and pastels are on the calendar for February and March at Gallery 246 in downtown Batesville.
Gallery artist and past president Karen Barker will teach a series on the essentials of pastels on four Saturdays: Feb. 11, Feb. 25, March 11, and March 25, 9 a.m. to noon each day. Each class will introduce basic principles and develop techniques and tools for subsequent classes, so that students create a finished piece in the fourth session. All materials are provided, but students are welcome to bring their own pastels if they prefer.
Fee is $40 per session, discounted to $150 for the series if paid in advance. Students will keep samples and reference materials from each session as well as the finished piece.
Jim Tindall visits from his studio in Mountain View to teach an acrylics class from 10 a.m. to noon on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14.
The class is suitable for all skill levels as students reproduce a Tindall painting of a bouquet in a vase. Class fee is $45 with all supplies provided.
Space for both classes is limited, so all interested should preregister by calling 870-262-8066, emailing thegallery@gallery246.com or visiting the gallery at 243 E. Main St., Batesville.
