Youth rodeo set for Sunday

Foothills Cowboy Church, located at 595 Hilly Village Road north of Batesville, will have a Points for Prizes Playday Rodeo at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 11.

Organizers are looking for more competitors.

Events open to all ages include water cup relay, potato race, barrels, poles, Dolly Parton run, Pony Express, egg and spoon, the panty race, buddy pickup and ride a buck.

All horses must have proof of a clear Coggins test.

Event entry fee is $5 per event. Prizes will be awarded.

Admission to the rodeo is a canned food item, which will be added to the church’s food pantry. During the holidays, food baskets are distributed to people’s homes.

The church is seeking to build their youth group. “It is very important to us to bring our youth together, for they are our future,” a news release states.

Deadline is Tuesday to register for free COVID-19 vaccination

A free COVID-19 vaccination clinic will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 17 at Friendship Baptist Church, located at 460 Dry Run Circle in Batesville.

Medical personnel will administer the vaccine.

Low-cost spay/neuter clinic scheduled

MOUNTAIN VIEW — A low-cost spay/neuter clinic will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 23, 24 and 25, at the Stone County Fairgrounds, located at 210 Warren St. in Mountain View.

Animals from the following counties are welcome: Baxter, Cleburne, Fulton, Independence, Izard, Searcy, Sharp, Stone and Van Buren.

Call 870-214-2156 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday for an appointment. Fees will be $35 for dogs and $25 for cats. Fees are payable with cash only.

Included are spay or neuter, rabies shot and medications for aftercare. Annual vaccines are an additional $5.

The event is sponsored by Spay Arkansas, Lucky Day Animal Rescue of Colorado, Colorado Animal Rescue Express and the Stone County Humane Society.

Craft Village to hold free open house

MOUNTAIN VIEW — The Ozark Folk Center Craft Village Grand Opening and Open House will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 16 and 17. Admission to the village will be free during the open house.

Daytime live music will be held at the comfortable outdoor venue of the Blacksmith Stage in the Craft Village.

The Roger Fountain Band will perform on April 16, and Whoa Mule! will perform on April 17.

Each band will play six sets throughout the day at 10:15 and 11:15 a.m. and 12:15, 1:45, 2:45 and 3:45 p.m.

Recovery Roundup planned

PLEASANT PLAINS — The 2021 Recovery Roundup will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 17 at First Assembly of God, located at 7477 Batesville Blvd. in Pleasant Plains.

Special guest speaker is Jan Morgan. Events will include skits, testimonies, a performance by a Christian band with specials and cardboard testimonies.

Testimonies will show the success of faith-based recovery, and there will be eight special interviews. VTN Christian Television will film the event. Two shows will be aired on several networks, reaching approximately 200 million homes.

Free chili dogs will be available, and Dot’s Food Truck will sell refreshments.

All ministries are welcome to bring a table and sell everything from T-shirts to crafts. Employers will showcase full-time jobs that are available.
