Batesville Assistant Superintendent Drew Sandage has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation that was initiated Wednesday morning.
Batesville Superintendent Michael Hester said the issue was a personnel matter and could not comment until the investigation was complete.
The district has called a special board meeting scheduled for 5:30 p.m. today at the administrative offices.
Hester said they will go immediately into executive session for personnel.
The suspension stems from an incident that Sandage was involved in using a phone that personally belongs to Sandage. The Batesville School District provides a stipend, making it district property, according to BSD counsel.
Sandage’s incident involved Karin Huffman, who is no longer employed at the Daily Guard.
Electronic communications between the parties of a sexual and graphic nature were discovered on the Batesville Guard’s office equipment including graphic images and explicit text messages.
Many of these messages were exchanged between Sandage and Huffman on company and school district time or on official assignments based on digital time stamps.
