Batesville Canoe Race slated for Saturday

The annual Batesville Canoe Race is set for Saturday and includes canoes, kayaks and paddle boards.

The start and finish line for all races will again be at the mouth of the Polk Bayou, and the course for youth canoe, kayak and stand-up paddle board races will be up to course markers on Polk Bayou and back to the finish line.

The adult open, recreational and kayak divisions will paddle up river, following the original race course, but will finish at the mouth of the bayou.

Registration will be from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at the bayou with lunch and awards provided at the old Water Stadium.

The entry fee is $20 per participant, a signed liability waver and life jacket (PFD) are required for all participants.

The age divisions are: adult — 18 and older; youth — 13-17; and mixed — 11- to 17-year-olds with an adult.
