Something has got to change!

Ok here is the deal. I am fed up with the things that go on here.  I have been a resident here for approximately 20 years. As a teenager I was in awe that MTV was literally taken from us over someones opinion that it was bad. Over time I have sit back and watched things here and compared them to where I grew up (a normal place) and still am in awe! For starters, we are not allowed to buy alcohol here because again in "someones" opinion it's a bad thing. These same "people" also allowed Josies to sell alcohol, which in turn allows the same people to still have their drinks but the common people cannot without spending loads of gas money driving to Newport or Elgin. I remember the controversy with the skate ramp and how "it is a place where drugs are sold" etc etc. Now it's gone, but yet drugs are still in Batesville (imagine that). I remember one business being ordered to remove its "adult" movies even though they were never in public view. I remember the opportunity arose for Batesville to expand it's city limits and allow our city to grow, but that was shot down too. Now I am hearing that they want to shut down the parks at night because of vandalism etc.  I understand this is a problem but I also feel too many of our rights and freedoms are violated here compared to anywhere else I have ever been in this wonderful country. Nothing is done here that benefits the people, only the "people" in charge. If we close the park does the people committing the vandalism and crime just go home and do nothing else wrong? What about the innocent people who benefit from these things? Does anyone care about them?  If the vandalism moves from the park to somewhere else then what?  Does anyone care that I have taken my family to the park at night to play when it's not so hot? Does anyone care that we the people should have the right to buy a 6 pack of beer for $5 without having to spend $15 in gas to do it? Does anyone not see the connection here with meth & kids? Why is this area one of the worst in the nation? Could it be because there is nothing for the kids to do. Does anyone notice that there are few jobs here that pay decent? I have 3 college degrees and can make more money at Pilgrims working with illegal aliens than I can in my professional field. This town is becoming really sad. It is time for the people to stand up and fight for their rights as citizens to have the freedoms they want (within reason of course) and speak out! Let's not stand for this anymore! Let's allow this town to grow, let's generate revenue from alcohol sales and lottery tickets. Lets entice businesses to come here to create jobs. Wouldn't it be nice to get a real steakhouse or restaurant here, too bad your big names won't ever come because they can't sell alcohol. Too bad the people here will forever suffer because of a few people in power who think they know what's best for the majority....they are deeply mistaken. I am scared to think what is next....

Sad,
I have often sat and thought about these very same thing's.. We used to walk all over town.. Now a kid can't walk ,sit, barley drive through without getting ran off for sitting,..
Ran in for drinking..
Searched for sitting and talking
They have nowhere to sit and be with friends ..so they end upwith people that have houses that they should not be...
Everyone used to go to the sand bar..
My daughter and her friends have called me to come get them.. I would take anyone home that needed a ride.. They did not let people leave drinking.. They cleaned up their mess..
Not once did i hear of anything bad with their group.. But like everywhere else they were told to move on..
Parents can't even let them hang out at home .. Then they get in trouble..
My daughter is grown up now but i think
that all children belong to everyone of us..
If i see them messing up.. i will do what i have to do ..to get them lined out..
Alot of kids call me momma.. Well i dont guess they are kids anymore.. Some are Marines.. some in college, some are just kids with kids.... "that is another way they get out" Or so they thought..
If they live here they are BORED to Tears thats for sure..
When my Marine's come home.. they wonder why they are old enough to die for their country but can't go have a cold beer!! Well that pretty much does it for me too.. thanks Sad for sharing !
