A CUSHMAN firefighter sprays water on a van fire on Highway 69 north of Cushman Thursday afternoon. The fire started in the electrical system under the dash area and quickly spread. No one was injured in the fire.

HARDY — Music producer Randy Jackson called her fearless. Singer Jennifer Lopez said she had one of the best female voices judges heard and now 22-year-old Lauren Gray of Hardy is in Hollywood hoping to become the next “American Idol.”
The hit TV show, which aired Thursday night on Fox, showcased Gray singing Adele’s song “One and Only” during auditions in St. Louis last year.
