RUSSELLVILLE — This story actually began last November, after the Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys whipped the Harding Bisons 56-34 at Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field to end their second consecutive season at 5-5 overall, 4-4 in the Gulf South Conference.
Senior tailback Tim Childress and sophomore left guard Deerick Smith, both Batesville High graduates and former stars in the Pioneer football program, agreed with the rest of the Wonder Boys that they were tired of finishing 5-5, and they were going to do something about it.
