Optimists sponsoring contest

The Batesville Optimist Club is once again holding its annual Oratorical Contest. It is open to all area youth under 16 prior to Dec. 31, 2009.

The topic is “Cyber Communication — Progress or Problem?” Talks will begin at 7 p.m. April 15 at the Citizens Bank Annex.

The winner will receive $100 and will advance to the Zone Contest to be held May 1 in Batesville. The Zone winners will advance to the district contest, set for May 8 in Hot Springs, where they will be competing for a $2,500 scholarship.
