State Highway 14 was blocked by fallen trees for almost three hours early Sunday before firefighters, highway department personnel, power company workers and others could get the road open again, reported Glen Willis, local Office of Emergency Management services director.

High winds toppled the trees, some of which became entangled in power lines as they fell, about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, he said.

“In front of Larry Shaw’s residence on Highway 14, two trees were blocking the road,” Willis said.
